“I became interested in emergency medicine as a teenager, became an EMT when I was 18 and volunteered with local fire departments. My paramedic partner encouraged me to pursue nursing and become a flight nurse. I became a nurse and worked in many settings including the ICU, ER, transport (from a rural hospital to metropolitan trauma centers with more resources), inpatient units, and finally the long-term care setting before deciding to become a nurse practitioner. In the LTC setting, I discovered what a treasure my residents were and how much I enjoyed sharing time with them. As an NP, I strive to listen to my residents, enjoy and learn from their experiences and insights, and bring high-quality care to them. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, pets, and church family, quilting, baking, walking, and gardening.”
