Holistic or Integrative medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and emotions — in the quest for optimal well-being.

We adopt the holistic mindset during our care of our patients; meaning that we promote a multi-faceted wellness according to the patient’s needs including physical, emotional, mental, social, familial and spiritual. Holistic approaches to geriatric medicine include:  diet and lifestyle counseling, psychotherapy, massage, chinese medicine/acupuncture, ayurvedic medicine, chiropractic, cranio-sacral and many other modalities. While we do not ourselves provide many of these modalities, we are happy to support our patients in accessing these services.

We recognize that for many of our patients, suffering comes not only in the form of physical symptoms such as pain, but also as loneliness, isolation, loss of purpose and loss of identity.  We have found that spending the time with our patients and families and helping to deepen existing bonds heals more profoundly than anyone expects.
